I heard that Osmani Garcia will be at Latin Fever in the early part of February. Is this true? If yes, which dates? I cannot seem to find exact information.

Gracias

I have been to the event prior years, it was mostly Cuban Son and misc other popular Latin music. It's too small a band to really be called a "salsa band" or timba band. Yes there is some cha-cha-cha ;-)

I would like to know what percentage of dance music, such as: salsa, timba, cha cha cha, etc... can one expect to hear at this party? Will there be any poetry?

Thank you!

My opinion is, you are very lucky to find a school that connects with the music well.

Most of the other schools here are businesses that sell the product of "meeting other people". And try to eliminate any demanding musicality that might make people think they can't dance ;-)

@admin Whoa, moving on 3-and-4 feels so strange! I must say, 4-and-1 feels like it fits the music more. (I bet there are long debates about this just like ones about on-1 / on-2 / etc!)

Hi Denis, The standard in North America has been the "Tea for Two" rhythm...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ89_3aB7oc
... that's like 1,2,3-and-4.

Even when I was in Cuba, it was an even 50-50 between the two rhytms at a club for all ages. I think it's the American influence coming back into Cuba...

But here in TO I see very few couples doing the Vacilon rhythm, almost all do it like Tea for Two ;-) ... even at a place like Lula Lounge !

Interesting. I've never seen cha-cha-cha taught any other way than this, and those courses did not mention it being a Cuban style. How else can you time the shuffles if not for beats 4, 4&, 1?
